Sandboarding in Timlalin Dunes
Overview
Sandboarding in Morocco usually brings to mind the Sahara, yet some of the best slopes for a first go are an hour north of Agadir. The Timlalin dunes rise straight above the Atlantic between Tamri and Imsouane, and the sand there is soft enough to fall on without a second thought.
Your guide starts with a short briefing on the basics: how to stand, how to lean and how to slow down. Beginners can ride sitting or lying on the board first, then try standing once they feel ready. You then have free time on the slopes, and the guide is there to help and to take photos.
On the way, the trip stops for mint tea in Tamri, the village known for its banana plantations, and includes a short walk through a sandstone canyon near the dunes. Boards and water are provided, and pickup is from your hotel in Agadir or Taghazout.
